Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration affects 1 in 7 New Zealanders over the age of 50.  Risk factors for developing macular degeneration include a family history, history of being a smoker, as well as diet and lifestyle factors.

Macular degeneration is the most common cause of blindness.  Regular eye examinations are recommended to detect the early signs of macular degeneration.

At Grant & Douglas we have invested in OCT technology, which allows us to accurately diagnose and monitor subtle changes in the macular at a microscopic level.  Our expert and friendly optometrists will always fully explain their findings and give the right advice for reducing the risk of vision loss in the future.
