Emergency Eye Exam
At Grant and Douglas, your eye health is our top priority. We understand that eye emergencies happen unexpectedly, and prompt care is essential to protect your vision. All emergencies are triaged by our optometrists and we do our best to provide an appointment within a reasonable time frame based on symptoms. Priority is given to previously registered patients who are up to date with their routine eye examinations.
When to seek an emergency eye exam:
- Any suddeon onset changes in your vision may require an emegency eye exam. Particularly partial vision loss, double vision or severe blurred vision.
- Eye injuries usually require prompt attendion, this can include abrasions, foreign bodies in the eye, or chemical injury.
- Severe eye pain or discomfort, light sensitivity, redness or swelling can be symptoms of serious eye conditions, especially if you are a contact lens wearer.
- The sudden appearance of flashing lights or floating spots in the vision can be symptoms of retinal detachment and require urgent attention.
